• Day 1 | WELCOME TO GALICIA!!!

Arrive in Vigo and check in to our charming boutique hotel. We’ll begin our trip in the early evening with a welcome dinner and wine pairing at one of Vigo’s best bistros, Detapaencepa. Owner and sommelier Oscar Cídanes will run us through the Destinos Cruzados wines where he is also a partner and give us a crash course in Galician wine and setting the tone for the week.

    Hotel: Gran Hotel Nagari

    Dinner: Detapaencepa

  • Day 2 | Destinos Cruzados

Meet in the morning and head straight to Destinos Cruzados in Condado do Tea (the southern inland subzone of Rías Baixas). Working mostly with Albariño, winemaker Marcial Dorado is no stranger to the Galician wine scene having made a name for himself at his family's estate Quinta do Feital. While no longer there, the wines have a similar style and are sure to put him on track to stardom once again.

    Hotel: NH Ourense
    Lunch: Destinos Cruzados

  • Day 3 | Viños de Encostas

This is the personal project of Xose Lois Sebio, formerly of Coto de Gomáriz. His goal is to produce Galician wines of distinction and quality in a unique area where organic viticulture is challenging and climatic conditions are difficult. We’ll taste his wines and stay for lunch. Well fed and ready for siesta, we’ll head back to our hotel for a relaxing night in the Ourense countryside.

    Hotel: NH Ourense
    Lunch: Viños de Encostas

  • Day 4 | Ribeira Sacra

We’ll start our day with a visit to Adega Saíñas located on the banks of the Cabe River. After seeing their vineyards and experiencing the region's captivating beauty first hand, we then taste the wines and have lunch. Without extending the sobremesa too long, we then drive to nearby Rairo for our visit with Roberto Rodriguez of Adega Entrecantos. Owner of two specialty food stores in Ourense, Roberto returned to his native town of Torbeo to make wines at about 750 meters of altitude, some of the highest vineyards in the region. His Martiñolo wines capture the influences of dense chestnut forests, mountains, rivers and memories of a childhood home.

    Hotel: NH Ourense
    Lunch: Adega Saíñas

  • Day 5 | Santiago de Compostela

After checking out of our hotel, we will travel from Ourense to Santiago de Compostela, known for its magnificient cathedral and destination of the famed Camino. Our local host will give us a tour of the old city center before sitting for lunch at one of Santiago's main food and wine destinations. After lunch, we will then head south to our hotel in Cambados for the next three nights.

    Hotel: Parador de Cambados
    Lunch: Pepe Payá

  • Day 6 | Adega Entre Os Ríos

After breakfast we'll head to the Barbanza e Iría region to visit Adega Entre Os Ríos, a family-owned winery on the southwest coast of Galicia, that creates aromatic, textured examples of Albariño that are utterly brimming with character. Influenced by the granite rock and schist of the Barbanza massif and its seaside climate, their wines are a true reflection of this terroir.

    Hotel: Parador de Cambados
    Lunch: Adega Entre Os Ríos

  • Day 7 | Bodegas Albamar

For our last winery visit of the trip we go to Bodegas Albamar in the O Salnes sub region of Rias Baixas. Winemaker Xurxo Alba is full of energy and has a clear mission to show us a new Galicia; without forgetting the tradition, but looking to the future. Xurxo will show us his newly planted vineyards before tasting us on his wines and having lunch at his family’s "furancho", a local term used for countryside restaurants serving up traditional fare in an unpretentious setting.

    Hotel: Parador de Cambados
    Lunch: Bodegas Albamar

  • Day 8 | Check Out

After breakfast, it’s time to say adios! See you for the next Viniesta Trip! We're happy to offer recommendations to those looking to extend their trip.
